Develop the quiet beauty of a life lived with intention. Foster a deep sense of fulfillment rather than constant accumulation.

Location

The Wisdom Academy in Matsumoto

A Slower Rhythm

Surrounded by the Japanese Alps and shaped by a slower rhythm of life, the region encourages people to step away from noise and reconnect with what truly matters.

Places such as Kamikōchi, the historic Nakasendō, and traditional onsen retreats like Tobira Onsen Myojinkan create an atmosphere that supports clarity, renewal, and deeper conversation.

Combined with the timeless presence of Matsumoto Castle and the region’s quiet beauty and connection to nature, this part of Japan feels less like a destination and more like a threshold into a new chapter of life.

Accomodations

Tobira Onsen Myojinkan

Surrounded by forests and mountain air, the ryokan features beautifully designed rooms, private and public onsens, with many of its approximately 40 guest rooms featuring their own private open-air baths, along with elegant restaurants, a spa, and gathering spaces that encourage rest, reflection, and meaningful conversation.

Beyond the ryokan itself, Tobira’s connection to its own farm deepens the experience. Fruits and vegetables are grown seasonally, many are traditionally pickled and fermented, and ingredients such as natto are prepared with care and attention to natural rhythms.

Together, the environment, cuisine, and mountain setting create a feeling of simplicity, presence, and grounded living that aligns deeply with the academy’s focus on intentional living and inner clarity.
